Hook: Firehole
Size: 10
Bead: Black 3.5 mm
Wire: .015. Ten wraps, superglued
Thread: Brown; Orange; or Black Uni 8/0
Abdoman: Caddis Emerger Orange
Rib: Small gold wire
Shellback: Pheasant Tail fibers ( about ten)
Thorax: Black Ice Dub ( veiling the body)
This is a new tie for me, but should work gang-busters up
on the K during October. We’ll see. I’ll let you all know

Looks good Dave. Would you go smaller?

Hi Lane........
Nope, I wouldn’t if you’re imitating October Caddis. Those suckers are big. I got the inspiration for this one by watching a Tim Flagler video on the Fly Tyler Magazine site. I never take credit for a fly if I didn’t invent it......and I certainly didn’t invent this one.
Now, you could certainly go smaller if you were just trying to imitate a generic Caddis pupa, just be changing the colors.
This is just my version of Tim’s fly.

I reserve a whole fly box for nymphs that I protect from ever getting wet with great care. If I were to ever change my mind about that, I would hope to be able to tie one as nicely as you’ve done here. Beautifully made.
