Description:
The Kennebago River is located just outside of Rangeley, Maine, in the heart of the Western Maine mountain region. The river has a great reputation for its fall run of Landlocked Salmon, in the month of September. Salmon here average 2 lbs, and there is an abundance of both smaller and larger fish, reaching 4 lbs is not unheard of. This is typically a wet fly/streamer river, and popular patterns such as the famed Gray and Black Ghost patterns are popular among the locals. Locals here pretty much abandon this river from Mid-June to mid-August, but that doesn't mean that there isn't fish to be caught. Brook trout thrive here as well, and are season round inhabitants of this relatively meandering river. So give it a shot, and you might come up a big winner
