How the Swap Works
Welcome to FlyFishingInMaine's Fly Swap!

What is a Fly Swap?
A fly swap is a group activity where each participant in the swap ties up a dozen flies, and sends them in to a central location (i.e. a "Swapmeister"), where the flies from each participant area collected and then the participants are sent out a single fly tied by each particpant so that in the end, each participant ends up with a single fly tied by each of the other particpants

Why join a Fly Swap?
A swap is a great way to get motivated for tying, meeting other fly tyers, and sharing your flies with others. Also, you'll get in return a unique set of original flies hand tied by your fellow particpants, to use on the stream, or save for display.

FFIM Fly Swaps are open to anyone. The fly swap index page shows information about swaps that are in any of 3 different stages.

New Swaps
New swaps are are fly swaps that have been started, but are still looking for participants. To join a new swap, and become a participant, simply click on the "Join" hyperlink of the row of the swap you wish to join, and fill out the basic information form. Swaps will stay in "New" status status until 12 partipants have joined.

Current Swaps
Current swaps are fly swaps that have reached full participation, and a due date for the flies has then been set. Participants can check back to see when they're flies are due, as well as view the details of who is participating in a particular swap, including what flies they are tying.

Past Swaps
Past swaps are fly swaps that have been completed. Completed in this case means that all flies have been received by the "swapmeister" and have been divided up and sent back out to the participants.

Swaps can be general or specific. For example, there may be a "Streamer" Swap, a "Foam Body Flies" Swap or a "Anything Goes" swap. Swap Names should clearly denote what flies should be included in the swap, and participants should stick to those guidelines for the flies that they wish to contribute.

All Flies should be sent to FlyFishingInMaine.com:

FlyFishingInMaine.com
PO Box 7925
Portland, ME 04112

and should include self-addressed, postage-paid return packaging. Please indicate (by swap name, your name, and fly name) which swap your flies are for.

We'd love to have copies of flies from our flyswap, so please do consider including an "extra"!
