About FFIM
Mission Statement:
FlyFishingInMaine.com (FFIM) is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to promoting, protecting and preserving Maine's fisheries.
History:
FFIM was started back in 1995 (eons ago in Internet years). I recall my
first days of getting familiar with the web, and looking for information
about fly fishing in Maine. I couldn't find any information on Maine
fishing, so I decided to write about what I knew, publish it for others,
and see what might happen. The rest, as they say, is history.
Activities:
Over the years FFIM has grown from a static site with a few pages of information, to a living, breathing, community with a very large and diverse readership. In 2003, through the proceeds of our annual Spring Conclave event, FFIM was able to start giving back in a way beyond just providing information and a community. $1500.00 was donated to Maine TU Youth Programs and the Saco River Salmon Club, and this set the stage for a new era. FFIM will select a cause(s) each year and donate 100% of proceeds of our annual conclave to further the efforts that align with the mission: promotion, protection and preservation. FFIM will continue to look for additional ways to be involved in the future of Maine's fisheries. Keep an eye out for us!
